  1. they don't keep track of parent companies that test, 3rd party testing on some of these though, or ones that say they don't test unless required by law (Chanel, Philosophy, Benefit, Bare Essentials, NARS, Smashbox, Cargo, Kat Von D, etc...) I personally contact each company that I want to research, because NARS sent me this list last year and I found some discrepancies on it. Heck, PeTA doesn't keep track of all of the changes either, its tough to do!

  2. I figured as much but at least it's a jumping point to companies that are claiming to not test on animals. Sephora carries so many brands that without a jumping point it'd literally take a year to contact all of them, haha.

  3. Thank you, I have recently been searching for info about this topic for ages and yours is the best I have discovered till now. But, what about the conclusion? Are you positive about the supply?

  4. Sephora now operates in China, and tests on animals where it is required by law. http://community.sephora.com/t5/Products/do-you-test-on-animals/td-p/70791
"Sephora does not test Sephora Collection or Sephora Original products on animals, and we do not ask others to do so on our behalf, unless it is required by law in specific countries where we operate."

  5. This angers me. Benefit, Sephora,L'Occitane, and possibly Philosophy all test on animals. The way they get around it in a very sneaky way is that they don't say the INGREDIENTS are tested on animals. The final product is not. If you want honesty about testing on animals go to PETA. My understand is that Urban Decays parent company tests but that Urban Decay has not jumped on the wagon. Tarte is also not testing on animals...to my understanding.

If they say, we only do it where it is required you know it is bullshit. They choose making money in China over ethical treatment of animals.

I wish as many companies listed in this blog actually were cruelty free. Wouldn't that be great?
